Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kinder Villa?

Kinder Villa is more than an enrichment space — it’s a movement to bring back what childhood was always meant to be: bold, connected, and deeply human. Here, kids aren’t just learning; they’re leading. Kinder Villa is a sanctuary where children from birth to 15 years grow through four distinct programs designed to meet them at every stage.

But this space isn’t just for kids. It’s a place where families find community again — where parents/caregivers and children build alongside each other, gather for events, shape projects, and become part of something bigger than themselves. Every idea brought to life carries the fingerprints of kids and the families who believe in them.

We’re a living and breathing example of what can happen when kids are trusted as capable citizens of today, not just tomorrow. A place where curiosity fuels purpose, courage becomes action, and childhood is honored as the powerful foundation it is.

What programs do you offer?

We offer four unique programs designed to grow with your kid:

MiniKids (0-3): Early connection and wonder through sensory play and nurturing experiences.

CuriKids (3-6): Bold, playful learning that fuels confidence, creativity, and friendships.

MoxiKids (6-15): Purpose-fueled projects where kids design, build, and create real impact in their community.

FlowKids (6-15): A journey into the inner world to help kids build emotional tools, understand their inner map, and move through life with calm, courage, and clarity.

We’re also creating spaces that bring families together beyond our daily programs:

UrbanFam: A community collective for Kinder Villa families to connect, gather, and build real relationships through regular meetups and shared adventures.

How is Kinder Villa different from daycare, preschool, homeschool tutorials, or microschools?

Kinder Villa isn’t a daycare. Kids aren’t supervised here; they’re seen, heard, and trusted to lead.

It’s not a preschool. There are no cookie-cutter curriculums or rigid routines. Play isn’t scheduled — it’s the fuel for learning.

It’s not a homeschool tutorial. We’re not here to replace academics or teach subjects. We create experiences that build confidence, character, and connection — skills that shape who kids become beyond tests or grades.

And it’s not a microschool. While microschools focus on small group academics, Kinder Villa focuses on something deeper: nurturing the whole child through purpose-driven projects, civic action, creativity, and community.

At Kinder Villa, kids don’t come to sit and learn. They come to move, build, explore, lead, and grow into humans ready to shape their world.

Who are the companions at Kinder Villa?

We call our team companions because that’s what they are — adults who walk with children, not ahead of them. Connection is at the heart of everything we do, and titles like “teacher” or “educator” create distance we don’t believe in.

Every companion at Kinder Villa holds a certificate in play-based learning and is deeply trained in child development, psychology, and building authentic relationships. We’re qualified, yes — but more importantly, we’re trusted by kids because we see them as capable humans with voices worth following.

It’s just as important to us that our team reflects the real world — diverse in backgrounds, perspectives, and strengths. We intentionally bring together men and women, people from different cultures, and humans with varied expertise to create an environment where every child feels represented, safe, and seen for who they are.

Here, companions don’t teach from the front. They tune in, hold space, and fuel growth from within.

What does a typical day look like at Kinder Villa?

No two days look the same and. that’s intentional. Kids arrive and step into spaces designed for freedom, connection, and creation. Depending on the program, a day might include open-ended play, storytelling, hands-on projects, guided story journeys, nature exploration, civic action planning, or group reflection circles. It’s never about filling time; it’s about filling childhood with purpose, belonging, and moments that shape who they become.

How do you involve families at Kinder Villa?

Families are an essential part of Kinder Villa, but not by directing. the programs or projects. Children lead here — always. Families support that leadership by creating a strong community around them. Parents join our Parent Council, providing insight, accountability, and ideas to keep Kinder Villa grounded and growing. They help make gatherings and festivities possible, join outings, and celebrate kids’ work during MoxiKids presentations. They’re also invited to share their skills or help create art pieces or enhancements for the space when opportunities arise. We believe kids thrive when families feel connected. They aren’t here to take over — they’re here to belong, support, and build a community where children feel seen, trusted, and rooted.

Is Kinder Villa religious or faith-based?

No. Kinder Villa is not affiliated with any religion or faith tradition. Our programs are rooted in human connection, creativity, and purpose. We welcome families from all backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures, creating a space where everyone feels respected, valued, and at home.

Do you provide meals or snacks?

Kids always have access to snacks and water throughout their day. We don’t serve separate meals or breakfast items, but every family contributes a snack item (under $5) each week to share with the group. This creates a community table feel, giving kids a chance to try different foods their friends love.

We prioritize healthy, organic, and/or homemade snacks whenever possible, and appreciate families supporting this approach to keep our kids nourished and energized.

Can parents stay during the program?

It depends on the program;

MiniKids is not a drop-off program. It’s designed for little ones and their parents/caregivers to connect and play together in a safe, intentional environment.

CuriKids, MoxiKids, and FlowKids are drop-off programs. During the transition period in CuriKids, parents stay to help their child ease in until they feel secure. We always support parents staying for a few minutes at drop-off if needed to make mornings smooth and stress-free.

UrbanFam is a family co-op built for parents and kids to participate together.

While Kinder Villa is designed as a child-led space where kids grow in independence and confidence, parents are welcome to step inside our entry gathering area at any time during drop-off and pick-up. We protect the integrity of each program by keeping sessions child-focused while still remaining an open, connected community for families.

Where is Kinder Villa located?

We’re located on a private property in the heart of Hendersonville, Tennessee. For the safety of our kids, families, and team, we do not share our address publicly and do not allow walk-ins. Visits are by appointment only to protect the calm, secure environment we’ve created. We’re surrounded by neighbors who know and support what we’re building here, adding another layer of community watch and care.

Does Kinder Villa have to be licensed by the Department of Education or DHS?

No. Kinder Villa is an independently run enrichment space and operates outside the jurisdiction of the Department of Education and the Department of Human Services. We are not a childcare or school facility — we are an enrichment program that follows all city ordinances, zoning requirements, and safety standards outlined in our approved permit.

We take pride in creating a safe, intentional, and legal space for kids to thrive, and we’re transparent about how Kinder Villa operates to protect the integrity of our work and the trust of our families.

What is your adult-to-child ratio?

Our group sizes are intentionally small to keep connections strong and every child seen. Sessions have no more than 12 children (not including our own family kids), with an adult-to-child ratio of typically 1 companion for every 6—7 kids. This ensures each child gets the guidance, trust, and attention they need to thrive.

How do you support children with different needs?

Every Kinder Villa program is designed to welcome children with a wide range of needs and strengths. We know that kids learn, connect, and express themselves in different ways and that’s not something to “overcome”. It’s something to honor.

In CuriKids, companions adapt experiences so every child feels safe to explore, play and build confidence at their own pace.

In MoxiKids, kids take on roles that match who they are. Quiet kids, for example, often hold powerful roles as observers, designers, or detail keepers — providing that leadership looks many different ways.

Across all programs, our companions are trained to observe, listen, and support each child in building skills and confidence without forcing them into a mold. Because at Kinder Villa different isn’t just accepted — it’s woven into the way we grow together.

How do I know if Kinder Villa is right for my child?

Kinder Villa isn’t about checklists, grades, or academic preparation. It’s for families who believe childhood is the real deal — a time to live fully, build meaning, and grow into who they truly are.

If you want your child to feel purpose and belonging… If you want them to use their voice, take action, and feel alive with ideas… If you want them to build deep friendships, be part of a real community, and see their strengths celebrated daily…

Then Kinder Villa is for you.

Here, kids lead, create, and live a life that feels deeply theirs, If that’s what you want for your child, you’ll feel it the moment you step through our doors.
