Over the course of this project, kids move through the creative process together. They’ll explore story , rhythm, beat-making, recording, sound design + digital tools before bringing it all together into one finished track.

No previous music or production experience is needed.

A few things to know

  • Kids move through pieces that make a track work, like story, rhythm, beat-making, recording, sound design + digital tools. They experiment, collaborate, try different roles + gradually bring those pieces together into something complete.

  • No. SoundLab is designed so kids can start where they are. Some may already be into music or technology, while others are completely new to it. The sessions are built to give each age group the right amount of guidance, challenge + independence.

  • SoundLab is for ages 7—15, but younger + older kids are not all doing the same things together. Projects and sessions are offered in age-specific tracks, with the content, pace + level of independence adjusted for that age range.

  • The multi-week project takes kids through the full process from first idea to finished track. They build skills across rhythm, beats, recording, storytelling, sound design + digital tools, while creating collaboratively as a group. The project ends with a Pizza + Showcase Night for families and friends.

  • Kids can keep building on what they learned through themed SoundLab sessions. These go deeper into one area at a time, like spooky sound design, nature-inspired audio, storytelling, different genres, emotion, sampling, remixing or another focused creative challenge.

  • Families can start with a SoundLab trial session or jump into an upcoming SoundLab Project. The trial session is the easiest way to experience the space first before deciding whether the full project feels right.
