After Dark: Halloween Special
We’re opening the Villa after dark for a Halloween night made especially for older kids.
Throughout the evening, kids will rotate through different experiences in smaller groups. They will create, experiment, investigate some very strange history, and eventually head outside for a game once it gets dark.
SPOOKY SOUNDS: Create eerie tracks in SoundLab. Kids will learn a few basic tools behind music and sound production and put them to use right away to create something creepy of their own.
CRYSTAL LAB: Make an intention jar. Kids will choose crystals, colors and tiny materials to create a jar around an intention that means something to them.
STRANGE HISTORY: Bizarre + eerie true stories. We’ll look at some of the stranger things humans have done, believed and created throughout history…the kind of stories that sound made up until you find out they actually happened. Topics: Plague-doctor mask, bone chapels, The Bell Witch Tennessee legend, Salem Witch Trials, New Orleans Vampire Saga
WIZARDS + WEREWOLVES GAME: Once it gets dark, everyone comes back together and we head outside for Wizards + Werewolves; a nighttime group tag-game across our backyard.
We’ll also have snacks + drinks for the kids throughout the evening.
A few things to know
This is a drop-off event. Kinder Villa is a small, child-led enrichment space located on private property in Hendersonville, so our address is not publicly posted. Registered families will receive the exact address and arrival information by email before the event.
If your child hasn’t been to Kinder Villa before and you’d like to get familiar with us first, you’re very welcome to join one of our other drop-in workshops or experiences before After Dark. They’re an easy way to see the space, meet us and get a feel for Kinder Villa before attending an evening event.
No costumes are required. Kids should come in comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes suitable for running outside after dark.
This event is meant to be fun, creative and a little mysterious; not scary. While we’ll explore some eerie history and Halloween-inspired themes, we’re carefully choosing what we share with the age group in mind. There will be no graphic content or intentionally frightening activities. The focus of the night is creativity, curiosity, connection and having a really fun evening together.
The night will have a little more energy than a typical Villa workshop. We’ll use lower lighting and atmospheric sounds, and we’ll end outside with Wizards + Werewolves, an active tag-style game played after dark. Kids can expect running, excitement and playing outdoors in lower light.
Because of that, this event may not be the best fit for children who become easily overwhelmed by darkness, noise, fast-paced group games or highly stimulating environments. You know your child best. If they benefit from knowing what to expect ahead of time, we encourage you to talk through the evening with them before drop-off; especially that our final activity is an outdoor tag game in the dark.
Kids will never be pressured to participate in an activity that doesn’t feel comfortable to them.
